Academic Monitoring

At MBEM we offer a unique, short, medium or long term service to manage and support the academic journeys of students of all ages wishing to make excellent progress in education in Britain. From advising students in Chinese schools, through preparation for the transition to International or UK schools, to monitoring progress across these transitions and later in their chosen school, we can guide them to success.

We Provide

  • Full academic monitoring by experienced educational professionals with personal understanding of Chinese, International and UK education and transitions.
  • Regular summative assessment including papers in:
    • Mathematics
    • English
    • Common Entrance
    • NVR – Non-Verbal Reasoning
  • Accurate assessment of performance and development through papers, face-to-face conversation and reference to schools and tutors.
  • Liaison with schools establishing ongoing close professional contact.
  • Assessment of potential development possibilities and personal targets.
  • Monitoring progress from an informed point of view.
  • Interpretation of reports and exam results.
  • Comprehensive advice on cross-curricular skill development.
  • Strategic long-and medium-term planning.
  • Targeting suitable schools, University courses and preparation for applications.
  • Regular contact with students and parents in Chinese and / or English.
We, at MBEM, do so much more than organise applications, we:

  • Prepare students during the years before the application.
  • Oversee the subsequent settling-in at the selected school.
  • Maintain close, effective and personal contact with the student at regular intervals, particularly in the early weeks and months.
  • Ensure prompt active intervention and direction to maximise performance.
  • We provide clear explanations in Chinese or English of academic matters, directly and quickly, to the family. This includes those subtle messages which can be inferred from what teachers say and do not say in reports and the implications of this.

MBEM will work to identify skill shortages such as essay construction, making logical arguments, problem-solving, research and presentational skills which may be of concern in more than one subject, and put forward remedial strategies.

We offer advice and support for option choices at Key Stages and full explanations of the structures, progression and implications at academic levels in the UK (Key stages 3, 4, 5, GCSE, A level, International Baccalaureate and University courses).

Our experience in school management and teaching enables us to discover from a school or tutor how the personal academic performance of individual students is progressing and to comprehend the subtle signs coming from the school, so allowing early identification of any situations, academic or personal, requiring intervention.

We develop personal contact and establish thorough knowledge of our students and their families ensuring advice fully matches their personal needs and individual aspirations.
